Critique Checklist for Project 01

For next Wednesday (09/17), you will present two flush-mounted 12" x 18" boards.

One will be your Typeset logo, while the other will be your Illustrative version, both at approximately 4".

Each board will show your logo in both grayscale and color versions. For the color version, use no more than three colors.

You will also include your logo at 1" high and small color swatches with the CMYK values included.

See example board below.

Board should be portrait orientation.

Typewritten 4”x 6” label on back:

Your name
GRD 3000 - Introduction to Graphic Design
M/W 8:00AM
Instructor: Paige Taylor
2 keywords

Craft should be as clean and professional as possible: edges straight and cut smoothly, prints adhered well to the boards (no ridges or bubbles), no smudges.

Remember the criteria for this project:

Specific Project Objectives
  1. To combine two letters into a cohesive visual form that functions clearly at large and small sizes
  2. To convey meaning through color, typeface, lineweight, position, orientation, and 2D design principles such as figure/ground, balance, and contrast

General Project Objectives
  1. To engage in a thorough process of exploration, evaluation, and refinement
  2. To present a well-crafted design and articulate how effectively a solution solve the problem
  3. To manage project constraints and requirements such as deadlines and project parameters

You will be assessed on the following:
  • Your process and exploration leading up to the final critique
  • Your craft and presentation quality
  • Your communication of your keywords through your chosen logo direction
  • Your technical execution
  • The overall success of your visual based on aesthetic principles
***Be on time for the critique. Being more than 20 minutes late to a critique will cause you to not be able to participate, which results in an F for the assignment.
