Virtual Class Today

With the flooding and road closings, I have canceled class today at school. Several people have told me that they can't get out of their neighborhoods, and the DOT is telling people to stay at home if possible. Also, more rain is on the way in various parts of metro ATL.

Sooo- today, you MUST email me your company choices, and I will email you back which one(s) I think will work for your project. After you get my OK, I want you to start scanning in/ tearing out images from books and magazines that you will want to use in your ads. Try to have a lot of textures and images for class on Thursday, and have your company profile (a description of your approved company) ready to discuss. You can use some text, but try not to rely on that too heavily - imagery is the dominant conveyor of meaning for this project. Remember, we do not have multiple scanners in the classroom, so if you have one at home, try to do the scanning there!

Things to remember:

1. When you scan, it is best to scan in at 200 dots per inch at the lowest (300 dpi is best).

2. Your three ads will all have your company logo and web address.

3. The three ads should feel cohesive, even though the imagery will be different for each of them...you will not just make the same ad in three different sizes!

4. The three ad sizes are on the project brief on U-Learn. Ad sizes will be the same, no matter which board size you are using.

5. You must not pull images from the web to use. Their image quality is not good enough to print, so don't even try to use those. They will look blurry/pixelated if you do.

6. Refer to the blog for project examples if you have not already.

7. Think about how the imagery you choose can make an engaging and intriguing ad for your company.

Also, sign up for Lynda.com and do some tutorials. I am signing in to see what tutorials you guys have done, so be sure to get some done. Let me know if you have problems signing in. Really look at the Photoshop ones, because you will mainly use Photoshop for this project.

I will listen out for your emails today! Be safe, and stay dry. I hope everyone fared well with the weather yesterday!
