PROJECT DUE: 10.27.15 (Tuesday)
Overview:
For
this project you will create an event poster. The poster should advertise some sort of musical event. It can be a concert, a music festival, musical theater, or even a classical music performance. The poster can be one that really happened or one that you make up yourself.
Details:
This poster will fully utilize the 12" x 18" format you have used for your other boards. This means the poster design will be full bleed, and will take up the full 12" x 18" art board, so begin your design accordingly. All illustrations, photographs, and textures should be of your own creation - nothing pulled from other sources (the ad project was the only project where you could use other people's imagery). Posters can also use hand drawn typography.
Remember to make this poster as realistic as possible. This means including the following information:
-
Band / performer / performance name
- Date (Date and weekday)
- Time
- Venue
- At least one sponsor
- Where to learn more info or purchase tickets ("Tickets available at www.stubhub.com", for example)
- Ticket cost info optional
Think about how well your poster's most important info can be read at a distance. Your poster's visual design and concept should covey the overall feeling of your performance and be attractive to the target audience.
Presentation:
This presentation is very straightforward: just mount your full-bleed poster design neatly on the board. Be sure to include your logo label on back, as required on the previous project. Since the poster design will take up the entire board, the board craft will be extremely important.
First Steps:
Tomorrow (10/13) you must have all of your information listed in the bullets written or printed out for me to review. We will have a work day where you can begin developing your idea for the poster. Consider the imagery that you can create. Only use photography if you feel confident you can create photography that reads professionally. You can not use other people's images of your musical artist.
