Final Critique and Class Day

Here is what you need to bring!
  • Your well-crafted and stable packaging comp. We will be handling and opening them, so be sure it can hold up to the interaction.
  • A 12" x 18" board with your packaging flat template on it. Of course, many of you will need to scale them down, particularly if it is larger than a standard sheet, or if you are showing multiple packages or pieces. Be sure to give a comfortable amount of space around your template. Please note somewhere on the board by what percent your template is scaled down. Example: Scaled at 75% of original size. This type should be small, maybe 8 or 9 point, in a corner of your board. Be sure to include your logo and label on back as well.
  • You must write a project brief for this final project. It just needs to fit on one page, and can be just one or two paragraphs long. Things to cover:
  1. What is your product?
  2. Who are its competitors?
  3. To what audience does your packaging design appeal?
  4. What are the weaknesses of the current packaging?
  5. How does your design solution improve on the current design?
  6. If you used any special techniques or materials worth noting, include that information.
  7. Any other info you deem necessary.
  • I have made you each a folder in our class folder on Shared Space. In that, you need to save out a folder for each of our five projects. In each folder, include a PDF of the board(s) that you turned in, and also JPGs saved at 150 ppi. You can create the JPGs by opening your PDF in Photoshop, and when it asks for dimensions, enter 150 ppi. These don't need to be larger than 10 inches wide or tall.
  • Either scans from your sketchbook, or your physical sketchbook. If you do scans, you can include them inside your Archive folder, and put the scans in with the appropriate projects. You don't need to include every single page - just key points in your creative process.
