Event Poster Project

Event Poster Due Date: 10.22.14 (Wednesday)

Project Objective: Create a poster to promote a music concert or musical theater production. You can choose your favorite band/solo artist/musical act, or it can be a Broadway type performance. This project requires research and understanding of the artist(s), the tour, the venue, the time period, and tour sponsors, as applicable.

All artwork in this project, whether it is photography or illustration, must be yours. If you want to use imagery depicting the musical artist(s), it needs to be your own illustrated version, or photography from a show or shoot that you did.

Include the following information on your poster:

  • Band/artist/musical name
  • Tour name (if applicable)
  • Venue name or logo
  • Date and times
  • Opening bands (if applicable)
  • 2 sponsor logos
  • How to purchase tickets (website and/or QR code)
  • Social media info (as applicable)
Poster will be 12 x 18" and flush mounted to your board, just as in previous projects. As you create your poster, be sure to give your project at least an 1/8 inch bleed, so when you trim it down to size out of the 13 x 19" paper, it will be full bleed and no border (unless a border is purposefully part of your design). I would like for your design to be a portrait orientation (vertical).

Be sure to spellcheck and proofread! Typos will count against your grade.

For Wednesday, you should have your band/solo artist/musical chosen. Bring in an 8.5 x 11" mood board printed out in color (mounting not necessary), with the above information in the bullet list included.

I will add examples, but check out www.gigposters.com to see some cool concert posters. :)
